Digging Deeper

We start on Tuesday 18 June a new series looking at the Epistles [the Letters]. There are 22 altogether, 13 by Paul, 1 anonymous (Hebrews), 1 by James, 2 by Peter, 4 by John including Revelation and 1 by Jude. On the two months before our break for August, we will, on Tuesday 18 June, be taking an overall look at the General Epistles, then on Tuesday 16 July an overall look at the Pauline Epistles.

After the summer break we will begin a closer look at this large part of the NT, written to the early churches, with the possible exception of John’s writings, within 50 years of Jesus’ lifetime, as we consider each of the letters.

All are very welcome to Digging Deeper as together, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we discover more of the great and exciting truths God has for us, in his Word.

Do your best, [study KJV] to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Revelation 3:22

Harvest Festival Meal & Entertainment – 21st September 2019

An idea of the programme
Preparation for The Cornerstone’s annual Harvest Supper and Entertainment Evening is now well under way.

Numerous people have volunteered to be live on stage so we may not see the return of ‘The Vicar’. Of course, this may be the reason that people have volunteered to be live on stage.

Very strangely these volunteers are volunteers in the true rather than the military sense of the word. And they include a flautist, who is not one of our members, a recitation, some song and dance and some straightforward live songs.

We currently have the usual eclectic mix of videos and chances for you all to sing. So far, we have songs or music in every decade from the 1910s to the 1970s. And, naturally a piece written around 1704 played as you have never heard it before.

One of the video clips is from the first ever film of its kind and another shows a well-loved duo in a piece not seen for 50 years.

If you fancy volunteering then get in contact with Nigel soonest so that he can slot you into the programme. Title of piece, name of performers and length of performance as well please.
